TUNNEL AND TRAFFIC MONITORING

SAFE MOBILITY FOR PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENT

In the modern road network, tunnels in particular form important connecting routes that are essential for the flow of traffic but are difficult to reroute in the event of a disruption. At the same time, they pose an increased threat to human life in the event of accidents and fires. Our sensors form the core of modern safety concepts that ensure traffic safety in tunnel structures and other neuralgic traffic infrastructures around the world.

VISIBILITY MONITORING

Visibility monitoring is used to control the ventilation of a tunnel during normal operation in order to ensure sufficient visibility for tunnel users. Whether ventilation using jet fans is required, and if so with what capacity, depends on the measured visibility values. Visibility is expressed as an absorbance coefficient, which describes the loss of light caused by air pollution.

AIR FLOW MONITORING

Air flow monitoring is used to control the ventilation of a tunnel during normal operation and in particular in the event of an incident, when an exact determination of the air flow is necessary to keep the escape routes smoke-free to allow tunnel users to rescue themselves.

LUMINANCE MEASUREMENT

Luminance meters are sensors specially developed for use in tunnels to measure ambient or roadway luminance. Luminance describes what people perceive as brightness and is the key control variable for the adjustment of tunnel lighting.

GAS MONITORING

Our Gas monitors are based on electrochemical sensors for on-site measurement of gas concentration and were specially developed for use in tunnels. Carbon monoxide (CO) can have an adverse effect on well-being and cause problems with concentration and health after a short time, even at concentrations of as little as 50 ppm in the air we breathe. To counteract adverse effects of this kind, the CO concentration in the tunnel driving space is measured continuously.
